The Job Market: Is A College Degree Worth Less?

What was discussed in this article was something I have heard of before. College degrees are meaning less and less as the years goes on, and getting jobs is becoming harder and harder. I think having a degree is an essential but, employers look for things that are going to separate you from the rest. You may have a bachelors degree but, its all those extra things you do with your time that make an employer interest (so I believe). If you are involved in the community, join groups that related to what you are going to school for that is going to give you a one up. That shows that you are involved and have experience in that field. Anymore it is not enough to go to school and get a degree, you need many other co-curricular things under your belt as well. As far as the loan and rise I tuition, to me this is not shocking but, it is unfortunate. College students work so hard for a degree and job and then when everything is all said and done they are left with huge debts. I do not think that is fair. Esoecilly if employment rates are down. That means you have a degree, no job, an still have to pay back those loans with no job to do so.

Should More People Skip College?

From reading this article I still believe college is necessary. Even though not all employers are looking for a bachelors degree, I think it is important to have because in college you take all courses that are different and you can be more well rounded. In the article it mentioned that college is expensive and people are going to school, earning a degree, not getting a job and then left to pay loans. Not all students have to go to a expensive school in order to have a degree, there are community colleges that serve as the same purpose and a regular campus, and you have less amount of loans to pay. There are always options. I believe and education is very important and so is attending college. You may not need to attend a 4 year school and earn a bachelors degree, you can earn a trade as well which doesn't take as long and cost less then a regular campus. There are options for your education and I think everyone should take advantage of them.

Plan B: Skip College

This article talked about how the education system is in Germany. They talk about how attending college will give you a better earning ad better chance at getting a job but, it also says that going to college "shortchanges" us which is also true. The article was encouraging people to enter into vocational fields but, then was saying that there are less opportunities in that field as well. I think although a vocational skill is important so are other types of degrees like nurses and teacher. All types of jobs are needed and depending on what you want to do I think that's when you make the decision of hat kind of school to go to. Either way I still think attending some type of school will be beneficial and is very important.
